Oh, Kadthal Kanmani, a recent addition to the filmography of veteran cinema director Mani Ratnam,  touches upon the ultra modern life style, “Live –in Together” , which is a modernized  version of his own cinema Mohan – Revathi starring “Mouna Ragam”, with some latest toppings.

The energetic, charming, bubbly lovers  (Dulquer salmaan and Nithya Menon) spend most of the time, laughing and  playing around. They are either involved in fun making or love making, probably, which is what all about the Live-in  Together, the director intends to convey the audience.
The "Live –in Together" duo finally agree to get married for sake of support and care which will be needed at their old age, is the story line of the Oh, Kadthal Kanmani.

 It deals with a very important issue of our life time Live-in Together, which our culture encounters recent times, in a very light hearted manner. It neither deeply represents the problems of married life style or portrays to the core challenges and problems faced by Live-in together couples. Mani plays a very too cautious throughout the entire presentation of the subject.  I wonder, where is the Nayagan Mani Ratham or Thalapathi Mani Ratmam?. He wanted to give a big hit, to come back in colours, and traveled in the proven success path, telling seemingly controversial love story but not actually. But the result is not as expected as all media sound out so loudly.
The screen play could have been improved and trimmed.

A.R.Rahman, reminds us that he is there most of the time, and sometimes very impressive. When I came out of the Cinema hall, only he came with me in the car not anybody else. Prakash Raj and Leela Samson, though performed their best but wasted, in my opinion.

I want Mani to return with a thunder. Let me hope so.
